B is for Baby...and for Blueberry!

Today, the most annoying child in my class did something I found quite cute. In his journal this morning, he drew "Mrs. Wise with her baby inside." He asked me while he was working on it, "Teacher, is your baby a boy?" I told him I wouldn't know for a long time. He seemed content with that, but informed me that in his picture, the baby was a boy. We'll see... Oh, yeah. In this picture, I also have a cat. With wings.

Today, Piglet is 7 weeks old! According to www.babycenter.com, Piglet is now the size of a blueberry! In honor of this momentous occasion, James and I are sharing a blueberry smoothie!

School Days

I told my class yesterday about being pregnant. They seemed to have a good understanding of what I was talking about. I'm sure many of them have had their mom pregnant with a younger sibling. They immediately wanted to know if it was a boy or a girl. One boy asked me, "Since you're a girl, doesn't that mean your baby is a girl?" A little girl asked if I could please have a girl and name it Elizabeth. The student herself is not named Elisabeth, so I'm not sure why she wanted that for me! They wanted to feel my stomach, and I explained that there wasn't really anything to feel for a while, but I told them that the baby could hear them (Lord, forgive me my lie!). Several of them have come up to me since them and talked to the baby. "Hola, bebe! Te quiero mucho." So cute!!

On the agenda for this week: choose a medical professional to do our prenatal care, etc. I don't have a clue how to make this decision!

Testing Positive

What an exciting day! Yesterday I received positive test results on two different tests: a pregnancy test and a flu test! In the same day, I found out I'm pregnant (Yay!!!!!!!!!) and I have swine flu (yuck...)!

I really feel fairly good. My worst flu symptom is my horridly stuffy nose. I've been nauseous but haven't thrown up, and I don't even know if that's due to pregnancy or flu!

In honor of this combination of events, James and I are referring to this baby as "Piglet" for now. :)
