Copycat Elijah

Elijah has been quite the copycat lately with things he sees in books or on his little Boz movies.  It's hilarious!  I tried to capture it on film here.  It's pretty choppy because the video was too long to post on the blog, so I tried to just keep the main parts, and I had to take off the whole end of the book, but you still get the idea of how adorable he is!

Tastefully Simple Party

You may have seen this info in our most recent Words from the Wise newsletter, but just in case, here it is again-we're sure excited about it and want you to be, too!  :)

 You're invited...virtually!

What's Going On?

We have a fun and unique opportunity to share with you!  Do you love the Wises?  Do you like to eat?  Perfect!  A friend of ours, Hallie Cook, is a Tastefully Simple consultant and has offered to do a fundraising party for us.  If you're close to College Station, we'd love to have you come to the Tasting Party in person (details below), but one of the fun things about this is that everyone can participate online!  Hallie is donating to our ministry a percentage of the proceeds from this party, so it's a win-win situation!  You get to order delicious, easy-to-make goodies AND you get to contribute to the work we're doing!

Taste and See...

Follow this link to shop online, to the menu tab "shop our products," and then please make sure you select "Cat Wise" as your hostess as you check out.  Let me just tell you about what kinds of things are on here!  Under "Desserts," I can't wait to sink my teeth into some of these cheese balls-English Toffee?  Key Lime?  Yes please!  Or a healthier option might be the Lemonade Fruit Dip under "Dip Mixes"...

Under "Breads, Soups, and Sides"  are some delicious bread and soup mixes-what an easy way to make your house smell fantastic while you're cooking!

Oh, Yeah...

Having a newborn again I'm realizing how many things I'd forgotten about in the almost two years since we did this last!

-the swaddle

-that dang umbilical cord that hangs on forEVER!

-how to wear a baby (the moby wrap is new to me, but youtube is helping!)

-I can function on less sleep then I think I need

-it is SO frustrating to be exhausted and still not able to fall asleep!

-it is SO peaceful to hold a sleeping baby
-Those constant noises newborns make while sleeping

-James is SUCH a trooper, bringing that fussing baby to me during the night, changing her diaper and putting her back down when I pass her back

-All these baby clothes are so tiny!  Now I have a better frame of reference for how quickly this baby will grow, having Elijah running around so HUGE in comparison!  :)

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Video removed to conserve storage space

Elijah has recently started singing along with several songs that we sing to him.  Unfortunately, this video doesn't do it justice-he was super distracted by his water cup... but it's still cute and gives an idea of what he does.  Just imagine him singing more consistently.  The only words you can ever really identify are "twinkle, star, are, high, sky." Cute cute!

Rejoice!

Video removed to conserve storage space

For as long as Elijah's been alive, we try to start his day every morning telling him this verse.  When we switched to Daddy getting him up in December, he taught EZ some fun participation-it's cute and hilarious!  :)

These Days

Here are some photos of what life looks like in the Wise household these days...  we're not taking tons of pictures, I'm realizing-yikes!

Elijah has started using a cloth napkin at dinner like the rest of us.  He took mine one day and put it in his lap so we realized he might as well get one, too.  Unfortunately, Mommy thought it would be funny to put it on his head at one point (what was I thinking?  I blame sleep deprivation!) so now that's a normal part of dinner.  :)

Elijah is starting to sometimes do his own praying at dinner.  He has the cutest way of saying, "Jesus!" and then, "Thank you...Jewel!  Daddy!  Mommy!  Baby!"  etc.  I know it brings joy to the heart of God to hear this precious little one pray!
This is one of my favorite things.
Elijah's been interested in flowers a couple times recently.  Here he is (not) playing soccer.
This is how Elijah gets out of his crib these days.  I can't pick him up for 6 weeks post surgery, so we've devised quite the systems for diaper changes, meals, and naps.  :)
Of course we spend a lot of time loving on our new baby girl!
Elijah tried on one of her headbands yesterday.  He just thought he was the coolest thing!  :)

Pictures at Home

Some pictures of our first week at home:
Ellie looking at her namesake, Roo...

Elijah laid out the duck for her to look at.  :)

Elijah saw her playing on her blanket and wanted to do the same.  So here he is with his blanket and some of his toys.  They are PRECIOUS together!!!

Sometimes these kisses end up a little dangerous.  Sometimes Elijah slips and squashes Ellie, or they bang heads.  Oops!
 Doesn't your heart just MELT?!?!?!
Easter egg hunt on Sunday!  Elijah thought he'd just go ahead and use both baskets (thanks, Pop & Gigi!).
Family Easter pic!  Love it!!!  I'm just so happy that THIS is my family!  I feel so blessed!
So proud that he's finding eggs!

 Trying to treat Ellie's jaundice.
 Getting loved on by Abuela.
Mom reading to her grandkids.  Now Elijah holds books like this and shows them to Ellie!
 <3.
 First bath at home.

I'm just so tickled by these little ears!!!
 Piggy back ride!
Wearing Daddy's glasses.  James says this makes EZ look like Chicken Little.  Totally!
James soaking in the glory of being the daddy of a sweet baby girl.  He seriously sat and held her for like an hour and a half while she slept the other day and I took a nap.  He's a GREAT daddy and a wonderful husband!!
EZ is loving his new white board toy.
They got these shirts that say "1 of 2" and "2 of 2."  Hilarious!  Here Elijah is trying to match Ellie's grumpy face.  Hahaha!

More Hospital Pictures

This is our first family picture, when Elijah got to come meet Ellie for the first time!  Sweet!

Elijah brought her her little Roo stuffed animal that some friends got us.  So sweet!
 Meeting her grandma, "Lala" (Abuela).

 With Aunt Sara

 With another grandma, Gran!

 2 Grandmas!!!
The nurse came to get Ellie to put her back under the lights.  Elijah followed.
He tried to get "Bibi"'s attention by banging on the glass.
 "My sister's in there!"

Our romantic candlelight dinner.  There really is a tealight candle.  The kind with an on/off switch!  :)
 Our little glow worm!

I was sad for James because during the 30 hours she was in the nursery under the light, we got her for short chunks just long enough for me to nurse her.  He didn't get to hold her much at all during that time!  This time she wasn't super hungry so he got in some extra cuddle time!  :)

 With Pop & Gigi!
