The Dominican Republic

The first two weeks of June we spent in the Dominican Republic on the training school outreach.  Here are lots of fun pictures from the trip!
The grocery store had a different kind of car carts than our grocery store has!  Elijah thought it was the COOLEST thing and continually asks for them even now that we are home!

Ellie made best friends with our bus driver and spent a lot of (parked) time in the driver's seat.

Both kids were troopers with the plane travel!  Here we were SO excited to catch the sky train between terminals and not have to walk so far!
Family picture at the Monument in Santiago.
James is a superhero!  He can carry two kids at once!!!
The shopping trip at the end of the trip-there was a UPS store!

Elijah is in a HUGE drumming phase lately.  These empty water bottles made awesome sounds!

Translating for Natalie as she shared her testimony in a park.
Clara meeting Jesus as her Savior!
 James on the radio!!!

Ellie actually slept large portions of her naps and nights in bed with us.  She had a cold and would wake herself up coughing and not want to go back to sleep unless we were holding her.  Since our whole family was in one room, it was easiest to just keep her with us.  We've not done this before and it is NOT the most restful way to sleep, but it worked, and as soon as we got home, she's gone back to happily sleeping the whole night in her own crib!

Ellie missed a lot of morning naps so she snoozed in our arms occasionally.  These were PRECIOUS moments!!!
Elijah helping Daddy share the gospel using the bridge diagram.
Sleeping on the plane...one of these people is faking...can you tell who it is?

More of May

I found more May pictures!!  :)

We celebrated our seventh anniversary!!!  We had an INCREDIBLE dinner at a super nice steakhouse in town, thanks to some sweet friends!  :)
We've built a couple forts lately!
We had a visit from Gran and Grandad!
 Musicians!

(Ellie started walking like three days after this visit!!!)

Elijah's Third Birthday

It's so hard to believe that our little guy is three years old already!  He wanted a starfish themed birthday party, so we went with ocean overall.  Really the only starfish was on his shirt.  :)
Doesn't he look so grown up?!  Here he's sporting his birthday shirt!

At his party, we played "feed the shark" by throwing beanbags into the basketball hoop.
The cake was the beach-half sand (with graham cracker crumbs) and half water with little fish on it.
We served four different kinds of fish-regular goldfish, rainbow goldfish, pretzel goldfish, and swedish fish!

The birthday party was a couple days before his actual birthday, so on the real day, we went to froyo together-a family favorite!

Happy birthday, Elijah!  You are such a tender, kind, creative, joyful guy!  We LOVE having you in our family!!!

May 2013

Well, a friend mentioned to me recently that she was looking forward to reading about Elijah's birthday party whenever I had a chance to blog about it.  Lo and behold, it's July...and I last blogged at the beginning of April!  Oops!

So...here are some pictures in the "May 2013" folder on my computer.  We'll see what I remember about these!

This was Elijah's favorite thing to do for a season!  He said he and Ellie were racing-him on his motorcycle and her with her walker toy.  They just went back and forth, back and forth on the driveway!

Ellie got her first blister on the bottom of her foot, and her feet got SUPER dirty, so I thought she might need to start wearing shoes!
We had some random BEAUTIFUL cold weather (I can barely remember this now...)

Park days!!!

 Rock climbing!
Elijah LOVED this tractor-he's not a great driver yet, but it was fun to try!!!

 Water table fun!
I taught Elijah a version of Twister using his new birthday chalk.  :)

Elijah learning to shoot his new nerf gun-hilarious!!!  :)
